Before the work starts

Know what you’re agreeing to

The written agreement should explain what will be done, what is included in the price, and when the work is expected to happen.

Ask how extra repairs or changes will be handled. New fixtures also need to fit the room and be available before work is scheduled.

How much needs to change?

One improvement or a whole new bathroom?

You may not need to replace everything. The right amount of work depends on what is bothering you and the condition of the room.

Change one thing

A new sink cabinet, better lighting, or a replacement fan may be enough when the rest of the bathroom works well.

Replace the shower or tub

Focus on bathing if getting in, finding room to move, or keeping the shower clean is the main problem.

Remodel the whole room

Consider a full remodel when several things need replacing or the arrangement of the room makes everyday use difficult.
